Thu., 8:38 pm: Hubbard man pleads guilty to interfering with air traffic
COMING FRIDAY: A 47-year-old Hubbard man will await a pre-sentence investigation before a judge decides sanctions against him for using a laser to interfere with air traffic last fall. In the meantime, Judge Ronald Rice, who happens to be a pilot himself, ordered Nicholas Vecchiarelli to stay away from lasers.
Vecchiarelli was indicted with pointing a laser at a news helicopter covering high school football games in October.
A camera operator from a Cleveland television station told police that he saw the green laser light several times as his helicopter flew over the Hubbard area.
