Mon., 5:36pm: UPDATE Standoff ends; incident started in Vienna

VIENNA — An East Palestine man township police said led them on a chase that ended with a brief standoff at a house in Youngstown on Monday is facing criminal charges.

Vienna police identified the man as Glenn Fulton, 51, of 102 N. Market St., and placed a hold on him at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. Police said they were charging him with failure to comply with a police officer and several traffic offenses.

The ordeal started around 11 a.m. at a residence on King Graves Road. Vienna police received reports that a neighbor had witnessed a burglary and was pursuing the intruder east on King Graves toward State Route 11, according to a Vienna police report.

Vienna police gave chase but terminated when speeds exceeded 100 mph.

A short time later Youngstown police located Fulton’s vehicle at 3025 Kiawatha Road. Police surrounded the house after Fulton barricaded himself inside a bedroom.

Several minutes later Youngstown police brought Fulton out on a stretcher and in handcuffs.
