Mon, 10:11pm: Polivka pens terse letter to Redfern

WARREN — Conflicts in policy perception swirling around the recent vote to appoint Mauro Cantalamessa as a county commissioner brought about more haughty words from Trumbull County Democratic Party Chairman and Commissioner Dan Polivka directed at the chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party, Chris Redfern.

In a Sunday letter to Redfern couched in biting criticisms, Polivka calls the ODP chairman’s post-election sanctions (suspending the county party’s discount on campaign mail and access to an electronic voter system) “dictatorial actions.”

Democrats voted Cantalamessa the preferred candidate to replace the late Commissioner Paul Heltzel after two votes using a secret, paper ballot and then confirmed him publicly by a voice vote.
