Sun., 6 pm: Liberty hostages held for three hours; two arrests made
LIBERTY Several people, including one child, were held hostage for about three hours Sunday afternoon at a house in the 3100 block of Hadley Avenue on Sunday afternoon.
Three individuals, one with a gun, took over the house about 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Sandra Smith and Kenneth Macek were taken into custody about 3:30 p.m. when they walked out of the house, police Chief Richard Tisone said. They are being held in the Trumbull County Jail.
“Off the top of my head, several counts of kidnapping and aggravated robbery” are what they will be charged with, Tisone said.
The third person escaped. Tisone did not provide the person’s name but said police are working up an arrest warrant.
