Mon., 10:25am: Niles mayor’s stepson arraigned
NILES — Municipal Judge Thomas Townley issued a protective order this morning for Mayor Ralph Infante’s stepdaughter, who has filed misdemeanor telecommunications harassment against her brother Edward Kapturasky Jr. of Columbus.
Kapturasky, 38, who turned himself in to U.S. Marshals Thursday in Columbus, was arraigned this morning via video connections with Trumbull County Jail, and bond was continued at $7,500 by the judge.
According to court records, Michelle Sudzina, Kapturasky’s sister and the mayor’s stepdaughter, filed the complaint through municipal court Prosecutor Terry Swauger.
The alleged threat and subsequent charge led to a Niles police officer being posted outside Infante’s office and his home initially.
Swauger said a lengthy text message sent to Sudzina threatens her and family members.
Kapturasky, a former pharmacist, was scheduled for a pre-trial May 19.
