Tue., 12:23pm: More charges for Howland security firm owner

WARREN — A city man indicted last week on 10 counts each of forgery and tampering with evidence was arrested on additional charges during a pretrial before a Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge.

Gregory Oakes, who operated American Sentry and Delta Elite Security firms in Howland, was arrested Tuesday morning before Judge Andrew Logan on three misdemeanor charges of operating a security company without a license. He is to be arraigned by video in Warren Municipal Court this afternoon.

Oakes was secretly indicted by a Trumbull County Grand Jury last week.

Investigators said Oakes forged his certification after he had his license revoked for failing to pay his state taxes.

He pleaded not guilty last week and was held on $5,000 bond.
