Mon. 12:22 p.m.: Former McDonald teacher, coach pleads guilty in student sexting case
WARREN – A former McDonald Schools science teacher and varsity baseball coach has pleaded guilty to “sexting” a female student.
Alan Stanely, 49, of 439 McKinley Blvd., pleaded guilty to a bill of information charging him with the illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance. The charge is a felony.
He faces a maximum of 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine. However, he is also eligible for probation.
Authorities said that while Stanley was a science teacher at McDonald he was found to have naked pictures of the female high school student on his phone. The student was also an aide in Stanley’s classroom at the time.
The activity was reported to have taken place between September 2011 and May 1, 2012
A presentence investigation has been ordered by Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Peter Kontos.
In October 2012, the McDonald School Board of Educated accepted Stanley’s resignation after police launched an investigation into allegations against Stanley. McDonald police, along with the school district, the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Trumbull County Prosecutors assisted in the investigation.
School records show he had been placed on paid administrative leave the month before his resignation.
He had been with the school district four years, teaching high school chemistry.
