Wed., 8:43am: Trumbull wants N. River Road sidewalks, benches

WARREN — Trumbull County commissioners this morning are likely to give Engineer Randy Smith permission to ask the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments, the county’s metropolitan planning organization, for part of a federal grant to install sidewalks along a section of North River Road.

The $511,485 request would pay for 80 percent of the project that also includes landscaping and bench seating north and south of North River Road, proceeding about 4,250 west.

The application is due Friday to Eastgate, but it could be revised, Smith said, to only cover sidewalks, landscaping and seating along the southern portion of the project if there are other funding requests to Eastgate. The rest of the project would be done later if the application is changed.

Road and ditch improvements are also planned for this stretch of road this year.
