Fri., 8:40am: Police investigate triple murder-suicide

DEFIANCE – A sheriff’s office in northwest Ohio says four people have died in what is being investigated as a triple murder-suicide.

Authorities say the bodies were discovered Thursday night by a family member who was checking on the welfare of the four in Defiance, about 60 miles southwest of Toledo. The four people were last seen Wednesday at about 3 p.m.

Officials have identified the dead as Robert Garza Sr., his wife, Christine Garza, daughter, Zoila Garza, and granddaughter Rebecca Garza. No ages were provided by officials.

Authorities say Robert Garza Sr. is believed to be the perpetrator. Defiance County Sheriff David Westrick told WANE-TV that a handgun was found in the home and is believed to be the weapon Garza used.

He said there were no signs of a struggle.
