Tue., 2:45pm: Woman sentenced in grandson’s shooting death

YOUNGSTOWN — A city woman convicted of child endangering in the July 8 shooting death of her 4-year-old grandson has been sentenced to five years probation.

A Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge earlier today also ordered Pamela Easterly, 52, to continue her mandatory counseling.

She was sentenced in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court today for her sentencing.

Police said Easterly, who was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury in September, left the boy, a 5-year-old and another young child alone in a room of a North Side apartment where they had access to guns.

Easterly’s grandson, Raytwon Briggs, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Police have said they believe the shooting was accidental.

No one else was hurt, according to police.
