Thu., 4:15pm: Man indicted in girlfriend’s beating death

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury on Thursday indicted a man on murder charges in the Dec. 31 death of a his live-in girlfriend.

Larry Johnson, 39, was picked by U.S. Marshals around 6:30 p.m. Jan. 1 at a Walmart in Columbus.

He is accused of beating and stabbing 26-year-old Lashea Parker, whose body was found in her Shelby Road home on the West Side of Youngstown. A neighbor who went to investigate why a child was outside without a coat found Parker’s body inside the house.

Police said Parker’s children are with a relative.

Johnson was held in Columbus until Youngstown police detectives brought him back to Youngstown last week.

He is now being held in the Mahoning County Jail.

A court date for his arraignment in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court had not been set on Thursday.

Police said Johnson was driving Parker’s vehicle when he was arrested in Columbus.
