Sun., 6:55 pm: Howland fire responds to crash on East Market Street

HOWLAND — The Howland Fire Department responded to a one-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon off East Market Street.

Lt. Lance Blair said the fire department was called to an accident scene around 3:20 p.m.at East Market Street and Clifton Drive after a male driver heading east on East Market Street lost control and went off the side of the road and hit a tree.

Blair said the Jaws of Life was brought to the scene to get the driver out of the vehicle. He said the driver was speaking to firefighters at the scene and was transported to Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Blair said no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The Ohio State Patrol was also called to the scene and is investigating the accident.

A 911 spokesman said they received calls around 3:19 p.m. from the 7000 block of East Market Street of an auto accident, a short distance east of Leo’s Ristorante.
