Thu 2:54 p.m.: Police investigate discovery of man’s body
WARREN TOWNSHIP – Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old township man whose body was discovered early this morning in a garage.
Warren Township Police Chief Don Bishop said it appears Tyler Gelet, 23, of 453 N. Leavitt Road, died from a gunshot wound. His body was found around 4 a.m. on the floor of the unattached garage at his residence, which he was sharing with a friend. Bishop said the friend returned home from work this morning who told police that when he went to pull into the garage he saw Gelet’s body lying on the garage floor.
“His friend thought he had gone to work. By the looks of it he had been there several hours,” Bishop said.
Bishop said police found a gun near Gelet’s body. He said his the Trumbull County Coroner’s Office was called in to assist with the investigation and he is waiting for results of an autopsy.
Meanwhile, police have been interviewing Gelet’s friends and family.
