Sun. 2:43am: Brief chase follows gunshots

WARREN – Multiple police officers were called at just after 2 a.m. today on reports of gunshots in the city.

According to police scanner traffic, shots were fired about 2:15 a.m. in the area of Noel’s Car Toys on Youngstown Road S.E.

When police arrived, the suspect had fled, prompting a search that spread out to the wooded area near Ridge Road S.E. Howland police were on the scene as well.

By 2:33 a.m., police reported they had three people in custody.

Police conversations with dispatchers were peppered with the sounds of people yelling in the background, and it sounded as if the original gunshots were the result of a fight that turned violent near Crest Lanes bowling alley at the corner of Youngstown and Ridge roads.

It was not immediately clear how many shots had been fired or whether anyone or thing was hit.

A short time later, Warren fire crews were called out to help police locate a gun that may have been thrown on the roof of a nearby building.

While police were still on the scene, officers were called out to reports of a large fight in another part of town.
