Wed. 3:55pm: Bar owner sues Warren, council members

WARREN – The owner of Gadd’s Olympic Inn has filed a lawsuit in federal court against the city and three members of Warren City Council for interfering with the business’ operation, including efforts to sell the business and having it liquor license revoked.

Linda Gadd, who owns the now-shuttered 1129 Parkman Road tavern, claims in the suit that city council members defamed the business in the media, violated the state’s sunshine laws when they decided on and disclosed the result of a City Council vote prior to the council meeting in which the issue was discussed, and held closed-door meetings in which the fate of the bar was decided without providing its owners a chance to defend themselves.

The city was responding to an Aug. 4, shooting originating in the parking lot of Warren Concrete, which is next to Olympic Inn. One of the bullets fired entered the wood frame home belonging to Pamela Dial and struck her in the head. Dial’s home is on the opposite side of the Olympic Inn’s parking lot.

Dial was paralyzed from the bullet wound.
