Wed. 3:39pm: Chicks killed by wild dogs

WARREN TOWNSHIP – A Tod Avenue woman said two wild dogs killed eight of her prize chickens this morning.

Mary Smith said she reported the matter to township police but was told there was not much officers could do about it. She said the dogs had run into the woods by the time she realized what had happened. She said eight of her 10 Buckeye chicks, all 3-months-old, were killed.

“It’s just heart breaking,” Smith said. “I hadn’t even realized the dogs had gotten in the fence.”

She said she has no idea where the dogs came from, but they ran toward Warren.
