Tue 9pm: Officials confirm girl drowned in pool

WEATHERSFIELD — Township trustees held a moment of silence before this evening’s meeting in remembrance of a township girl found face-down in a pool earlier in the day.

The girl, identified on a family Facebook page as Marina Nicole Baugher, 2, was rushed to St. Joseph Health Center this afternoon after she was found in her family’s pool. The girl’s mother, identified as Maria Reynolds, told investigators she thought the toddler was inside their home, and when she couldn’t find her, she went outside and discovered her in the backyard pool, officials said.

Officials said the mother performed CPR on the girl, who was not responding, until emergency crews responded to the Emerson Street home.

On her Facebook page, Reynolds posted a public statement: “My heart is empty. I don’t know how to feel right now. Mommy loves you, Marina Nicole. You’re in a better place, and mommy is so sorry. I’m so lucky to have you as my little angel now.”

Additional information, including police findings, were not released tonight.
