Thu. 12:24pm: 910th furloughs begin Monday

VIENNA – The anticipated furlough days resulting from the sequester passed by Congress go into effect Monday when nearly 400 Department of Defense employees at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station will be forced to take unpaid days off work.

The “designated furlough days” on Mondays are scheduled to continue until Aug. 26 with a designated furlough day also scheduled on Sept. 3, the Tuesday after Labor Day for a total of eight weeks.

The sequestration measure will save the DOD approximately $2.5 billion and, locally, about $2 million for YARS.
