Mon. 3:26pm: Warren man reports being robbed at gunpoint

WARREN – A city man told police he was robbed at gunpoint by two people on Mahoning Avenue N.W. early this morning.

Major C. Beckwith, 62, of Tod Avenue S.W., told police he was walking south on Mahoning Avenue near Hall Street around 2 a.m. when he saw two people exit from behind a bush, according to a Warren police report. Beckwith told police the people approached him, brandished a small dark colored gun, demanded money from him, took his hat and shoes off him, assaulted and searched him before fleeing on foot eastbound on Hall Street N.W., the report states. Beckwith told police he handed over his wallet.

Police reported they checked the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the descriptions Beckwith gave them.
