Fri. 1:02pm: TMH showing off surgery robot

WARREN – Trumbull Memorial Hospital is showing off its state-of-the-art robotic surgery system in its lobby today.

The da Vinci device, which costs about $2 million, was used to perform the hospital’s first single-site surgery – the removal of a patient’s gall bladder through a tiny incision in their belly button.

With the use of cameras and tiny robotic hands, specially trained surgeons are able to do traditional operations with virtually no scaring and a shorter hospital stay.

Visitors who stop by the hospital today can take a go at the simulator.
