Tue., 10:25am: WRAP board votes to eliminate mayor, council and community development

Tribune Chronicle

WARREN — The full board of Warren Redevelopment and Planning Corp., during its first meeting in five years, unanimously this morning voted to remove the Warren mayor, Warren City Council members and the city’s community development director.

The board also voted to reduce its size from 25 trustees to nine.

Trustees on the new board will serve three-year staggered terms.

The Warren mayor, City Council and Community Development Department were previously guaranteed seats on the board.

The decision to shrink the board was made to streamline its operation. It originally was designed to be 25 members to qualify for certain Small Business Administration loans. However, WRAP has not received the loans since the 1990s.

Members of the 2013-214 board will be selected during its annual meeting in October.
