Mon 11:39 a.m.: Man accused in stabbing remains in jail

WARREN A 28-year-old West Farmington man suspected of slitting his stepfather’s throat and stabbing his mother on Saturday remains at the Trumbull County Jail.

Trumbull County Sheriff’s deputies were expected to file charges today against Thomas Starr, who is accused of killing Jeffrey Westfall, 51, at Westfall’s home on state Route 305, Southington. Westfall’s wife and Starr’s mother, Linda Frye, 46, was found stabbed. She was transported by helicopter to a Cleveland area hospital.

An update on her condition is not currently available.

Westfall was found dead near the front porch of his home, investigators said. A man driving by the area called 911 to report a woman lying by the side of the roadway.

Starr fled into a nearby wooded area and called 911, telling dispatchers he tried to kill the two with a knife.
