Mon. 10:24am: Pair arraigned on prostitution counts

BRACEVILLE – Two people associated with a township spa that was raided last week appeared in court this morning.

Sun Cha Chae, 69, onsite manager of the Rose Spa was arraigned in Newton Falls Municipal Court on seven counts of promoting prostitution. She was given a bond of $1,500 and ordered to surrender her passport.

An employee, 56-year old Kyong Hwa Nguyen, was charged with two counts of prostitution. At the request of her attorney, she will be arraigned either later today or Tuesday.

Meanwhile, property owner Ted Kolacz is to appear in Trumbull County Court at 1:30 on April 12 for a nuisance abatement hearing.

Police executed a search warrant April 4 at the spa on Route 5 near Interstate 80 following a lengthy investigation.

“Probably for the last six weeks, we’ve been investigating complaints of prostitution here at this business,” said Chief Bill Garro said last week.

Garro also said that when police arrived, they found a male customer inside.

“And the officers that entered this business observed one of the employees and this customer engaged in a sexual act upon our arrival,” he said.

This is the second time this spa has been raided. The last time was over the summer under a different name and different ownership.

The spa is now boarded up.
