Wed. 3:11pm: City man died several days before police found body

WARREN – A city man investigators say was stabbed multiple times died several days before his body was discovered this week at his Williamsburg Street residence.

Dwayne Hickman, 49, died approximately March 21, the Trumbull County Coroner’s Office confirmed today. Police found Hickman’s body Monday morning after his sister, Cathy Orwig of Niles, asked police to check on her brother because she couldn’t find or reach him.

An autopsy performed Monday confirmed Hickman died from multiple stab wounds, according to the coroner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide – the city’s third this year and second within a week.

Warren police Lt. Jeff Cole said no one has been charged in the killing. He said police also found that Hickman’s vehicle was missing when investigators went to check on him Monday, but has since been located.

Investigators do not know whether the vehicle has any connection to Hickman’s death, Cole said.

Warren had five homicides in all of 2012.
