Mon., 11:24am: Man accused in Liberty shooting freed on bond
GIRARD — A Youngstown man accused of shooting an 18-year-old man outside a Belmont Avenue club last month was released from Trumbull County Jail today after posting a $50,000 bond.
Richard James Armstrong, 20, 1810 Price Road, is charged with felonious assault. He was arrested Friday and arraigned today in Girard Municipal Court. He is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. April 3 in Girard.
According to reports, Quentin Boone of Elm Street was shot in the head and back Feb. 24. Police said he is recovering in a local hospital.
Township police said they were called around 4:30 a.m. to the parking lot of Club Remix, 3200 Belmont Ave., where they found Boone with a gunshot wound. They said they located multiple shell casings near him and found that a nearby vehicle appeared to have been struck by bullet fragments.
Officers spoke with many patrons of the nightclub but did not receive any helpful information, according to a police report.
Club manager Lamar McGary, 34, of Youngstown, told police that the club had been rented out to Bryant Spence, 23, of Youngstown. The report also stated that McGary provided police with a guest list and rental contract for the event.
The club has since closed.
