Fri., 9:01am: Man charged in N.J. prostitution ring recruited from NE Ohio
TRENTON, N.J. — New Jerseys attorney general says a northern New Jersey man has been charged with allegedly running a high-priced prostitution ring.
Authorities say 35-year-old Percival R. Williams of Edison, N.J., allegedly used violence and threats to enslave women. Police say he often solicited girls in northeast Ohio to work in his New Jersey operation.
Williams faces charges including human trafficking, promoting prostitution, theft and conspiracy. He was arrested Tuesday in Dallas and is being held in Texas pending extradition.
Police say Williams and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Chanell “Asha” Vaughn, allegedly supplemented their business by having Vaughn steal $500,000 worth of uncut diamonds from a client at New York City’s Cosmopolitan Hotel. Vaughn was arrested Thursday at Williams’ New Jersey home.
It’s not clear if they have retained lawyers.
