Thu. 11:31am: Mahoning to sell water to drilling company

YOUNGSTOWN – Mahoning County commissioners this morning approved an agreement to sell water to a company operating a natural gas drilling operating in North Jackson.

Commissioners approved the pact to sell up to 500,000 gallons a day to Consol Energy for use in operating a drill site off Blott Road.

Bill Coleman, county sanitary engineer, said that the agreement calls for the water to be sold at $6 per 1,000 gallons used. If the maximum amount of 15 million gallons per month is used, it would raise $90,000 per month in revenue, Coleman said.
