Mon. 6:40pm: Wind chill advisory in effect
WARREN – The Mahoning Valley will be experiencing some of the coldest temperatures this winter as the National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a wind chill advisory effective today through 11 a.m. Wednesday with dangerously cold conditions expected.
The advisory, which was issued this evening and includes most of northern Ohio, indicates wind chill readings could be as low as -16 with strong winds gusts up to 30 miles per hour.
Weather officials indicate temperatures Tuesday are expected to peak at 13 F and drop to 3 F. The NWS forecast calls for cold temperatures also on Wednesday with a high of 15 F.
Those going outside are advised to dress warmly and avoid prolonged exposure to the outdoors to prevent frostbite and hypothermia as cold conditions make it feel as it is 10 degrees below zero or colder for several hours, officials said.
