Mon 11:39 a.m.: UPDATE Youngstown schools take precaution after threat

YOUNGSTOWN – City schools are taking precautions after being informed of a potential threat. Youngstown Diocese schools in the city are under lockdown.

An online chatroom post that warned viewers to watch the news in Youngstown was brought to the attention of federal law enforcement officials, who then notified Youngstown police, said Lt. John Kelty. Youngstown police then notified area schools.

City schools are not on lockdown, but have taken all the precautions of being on alert, including locking all classroom doors, said communications director Karen Ingraham.

The threat is considered non-viable, but officials are seeking the identity of the poster, Kelty said.
