Port authority agrees to host Wings-n-Wheels

WARREN — The Western Reserve Port Authority has agreed to host the next Wings-n-Wheels aviation and car show at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.

The board, which runs the airport, voted on the matter last month after receiving a recommendation for the move from the port authority’s aviation committee. Dan Dickten, aviation director at Vienna airport, said there would be no cost to the airport or port authority.

Bill Griffin, show organizer, said he plans to discuss the option with his board of directors so a final decision can be made on whether to make the move.

The 2018 show is scheduled for Aug. 5. It has been held in August the past five years at the SLOAS Airfield in Howland.

Earlier this month, Griffin said the event is “running out of room” at SLOAS and moving it to the airport will give the show the space it needs to grow.

Show proceeds benefit the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, Northeast Ohio Adoption Services and the museum, Griffin said.
