School district to host forum

HOWLAND — The Howland Local School District will hold a “Faces of Heroin” community forum 5 p.m. Sunday in the high school auditorium / gymnasium.

The forum will focus on heroin awareness and the epidemic in the community. Resources will be available proceeding the presentation.

Guests are asked to enter through the gymnasium doors.

Historical society schedules meeting

HOWLAND — The Howland Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the township administration building, 205 Niles Cortland Road NE, Warren.

The guest speaker will be Nancy Gurdak, who will deliver a presentation on “The Role of Quilts in the Underground Railroad.”

The meeting is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Farmers market continues indoors

HOWLAND — The Howland Farmers Market is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first and third Saturdays at the Children’s Rehabilitation Center, 885 Howland Wilson Road, through May 2017.

The farmers market was established in 2006 by township trustees to connect the community to locally grown and raised agricultural products.

The program offers a variety of produce from local farms and gardens. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Electronic Benefits Transfer customers are welcome.

The weekly market features local produce, grass-fed meats, eggs and cheeses, artisan breads, honey, jams and jellies, baked goods and more.
