Museum plans robotics event

FIRST LEGO LEAGUE EXHIBITION: Warren’s McGuffey School LEGO League Titonics and the National Packard Museum will host the FIRST — For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology — LEGO League Robotics exhibition noon to 2 p.m. April 6 at the museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. Admission to the museum’s Legacy Gallery will be free.

LEGO League teams focus on solving real-world problems such as food safety, recycling and energy by applying science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts. Teams design, build and program a LEGO Mindstorms robot, then compete on a themed table-top playing field.

JEWELRY SALE: The Auxiliary of St. Joseph Warren Hospital is sponsoring a fundraiser jewelry sale 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the Warren Room at the hospital. Most of the jewelry is priced at $6.

FUNDRAISER SET: A community fundraiser will be held 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lakeview K-8 School cafeteria on Wakefield Drive to benefit two families in Cortland who have a member stricken with cancer.

Aiden Elder, a kindergartener, passed away Feb. 24. He was only able to spend the first couple of weeks of the school year at school due to his illness.

The other family includes Jill Hoover, a parent of two high school students in Lakeview. She is also a teacher in the Hubbard school district but hasn’t been able to work due to progression of the cancer.

All proceeds will be split evenly between the two families. There will be a Chinese auction, bake sale, 50-50 raffle and door prize. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Shari at 330-503-5339. Walk-ins are also welcome and take out is available.

SECOND HARVEST FUNDRAISER: Through April 20, customers of Sparkle Markets may help Second Harvest Food Bank in Youngstown by adding to their grocery bills for the food bank. Customers can also donate nonperishable food items in collection bins at the store.

Last year, Sparkle Market raised $11,518 through the donation coupon. For information, visit www.harvestforhunger.org
