HOWLAND MEN WHO COOK: Howland Boy Scout Troop 122 and Venturing Crew 122 will hold a Howland Men Who Cook fundraiser 4 p.m. Jan. 27 at Howland United Methodist Church, 730 Howland Wilson Road NE, with various recipes prepared by celebrity chefs from the community, including township and school officials, scout leaders and local businessmen.

Two awards will be presented — People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice.

Tickets are $15 each and are available at the Howland United Methodist Church office or by contacting Scout master@howlandtroop122. com. Tickets are also available through Eventbrite with an additional service fee.

COFFEE CUP DISPLAY: The Bristol Public Library is showcasing classic and antique coffee cups on the second floor display case area.

The collection is owned by local resident Judith Sheridan.

CENTER HELPS AT HOLIDAYS: The Emmanuel Care Center in Girard helped local families in need at the holidays, feeding 320 families at Thanksgiving and 378 children were provided gifts for Christmas.

Donations from the public made the distribution possible. Donations for the coming year can be taken to the center at 2 N State St.

SUICIDE COALITION: The Trumbull County Suicide Prevention Coalition meets 3 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board. The coalition develops prevention and awareness activities to reduce suicides in our community.

According to the Trumbull County Coroner’s Office, there were 25 deaths by suicide in 2018, almost 90 percent of them males. In 2017, 40 Trumbull County residents committed suicide.

Because gunshot was the No. 1 one method used by those who died by suicide, part of the campaign is to provide free gun locks to anyone who needs them.

COALITION TO MEET: The Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention will meet 9:30 a.m. today at the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board at TMHA building in Warren. A countywide orientation is 8 a.m. today at TMHA.

20TH ANNIVERSARY: The Pathway Sober House in Warren will mark the 20th anniversary 5 p.m. Friday at Enzo’s Banquet Center. Social hour is 5 p.m. and the event at 6 p.m.
