Seeing Eye

LIBRARY EVENT: The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library in Warren will hold a children’s paint and sip event at 5 p.m. Wednesday for students in grades 1-6. The child-friendly paint and sip party will allow participants to create a painting as a special holiday gift. Registration is required at 330-399-8807.

GRANT RECEIVED: Heritage Manor Rehabilitation and Retirement Community in Youngstown received a $31,000 grant from the Association of Jewish Aging Services for a music and memory program for residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Through the program, nursing home staff and other elder care professionals, as well as family caregivers, will be trained on how to create personalized playlists using iPods / MP3 players and related digital audio systems that enable those struggling with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other cognitive and physical challenges to reconnect with the world through music-triggered memories.

TOY DRIVE IN FALLS: Santa’s Workshop annual toy drive is being held in Newton Falls. Monetary donations and unwrapped toys and new clothing can be dropped off at collection boxes at Dollar General and Family Dollar stores, Santa’s Workshop is located at 31 W.
