Seeing Eye

KINSMAN GROUP: The next Kinsman Historical Society meeting will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kinsman Presbyterian Church. Emily Love will make a presentation about William Birrell.

Len Brown will give a progress report on the documentary about the great Ashtabula train wreck. Anyone interested in helping as cast and crew should attend the meeting. They will be filming at the Kinsman Presbyterian Church.

There will be election of officers. Light refreshment will be served.

McDONALD TREE LIGHTING: The McDonald Village annual tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the tree in front of the fire station off Ohio Avenue. The event will include arrival of Santa Claus by fire truck, caroling, hayrides, a bonfire, refreshments and tree lighting by local Girl Scouts.

MISSION NEEDS DONATIONS: Warren Family Mission is in need of boxed mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing mix and pies for the free Thanksgiving meal noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Donations of food or money can be dropped off at the 155 Tod Ave. location.

ALZHEIMER’S DONATIONS: Throughout the month of November, Save-A-Lot stores will offer “forget-me-not” pinup donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter provides free care and support to Mahoning Valley families impacted by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia in the form of a 24/7 Helpline (800-272-3900), community education programs and presentations, monthly caregiver support groups, and family care consultations from their local office in Canfield.

LIBRARY CLOSING: The Warren-Trumbull County Public library and its branches will close 5 p.m. Wednesday for the Thanksgiving holiday and also be closed Thursday.

BASEMENT OUTREACH: Basement Outreach Ministries in Warren will hold a free Thanksgiving dinner 6 p.m. today at 684 N. Park Ave., Warren. The ministry reaches out to help homeless people and has homes to help people in need.
