Seeing Eye

SEED TO TABLE: Newton Falls Library will hold “Seed to Table” 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the library for patrons of all ages to enjoy a harvest celebration. There will be free treats from the garden, crafts, activities and a petting zoo with animals from Spring Mist Traveling Farm.

FARM MARKET: A farmers market will be held 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Quinby Park. The event will include cooking demonstrations, family-themed activities, food nutritional information and music.

HONORING VETERANS: The Girard-Liberty Rotary Club is seeking to honor veterans and first responders through its U.S. Flag Project. Nominations are being sough to present a flag to a veteran or first responder each month beginning in October. The club will provide the honoree selected with a flag to be flown at the person’s home for recognized holiday periods. Nominations can be sent to Girard-Liberty Rotary Club, P.O. Box 141, Girard, 44420, no later than the 15th of each month prior to the next month.

The club’s flag project provides individuals and businesses with U.S. flags to be flown during two periods of Memorial Day to Fourth of July and Labor Day to Veterans Day. Rotary members place and take down the flags. Cost is $30 per year. Send requests to P.O. Box 141, Girard, 44420. Proceeds from the project help with community service projects, donations and scholarships.
