WHAT: Board of Education meeting Monday
PRESENT: Jim Scher, Patricia Fisher, David Mahan, Kelly Boyle and John Pitts
The board:
• Reported 21 district students in grades third to seventh received perfect scores on the state AIR testing for 2017-18 school year;
• Approved Katie Brown as a substitute high school counselor, filling in for Danielle Fahmy. Brown received a master of school counselor education degree in May;
• Heard from Superintendent Pamela Hood that once Central Elementary School is demolished, bricks will be made available. There will be a delay of about two weeks for the demolition to move utilities. The demolition will be completed by late Novemeber followed by the middle school with the bricks to be available when project is completed;
• Approved five- to 10-minute time adjustments for start and end times for three school buildings since they are all on one campus site off Mahoning Avenue;
• Set board dialogue with middle school eighth graders 10 a.m. Monday and high school students 11:15 a.m. Oct. 8; black light show at footbal halftime Oct. 5; and fall fest at middle school gym 11 a.m. Oct. 18.
