Library to host program on Alzheimer’s

DISCUSSION ON MEMORY LOSS: “The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease” will be presented 2 p.m. Friday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library.

The program will be presented by the Greater East Ohio Area Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Registration is required at 330-399-8807, Ext. 200.

BOOK SIGNING: Myra Jones will hold a book signing 7:30 to 10 p.m. today at Applebee’s, 904 Great E. Plaza, Niles. Jones, who is a first-time author, has written “The Chase.”

SPEAKER SERIES: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will present the Newman Levy Speaker Series. Newman Levy was a member of the community and a fan of sports and Jewish culture.

The program, “The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg,” a professional baseball player, will be held 5:30 p.m. Monday at center’s multipurpose room. Greenberg was known as the “Hebrew Hammer.”

STORYTIME EVENT: The OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology in Youngstown will hold STEM Storytime 10 a.m. Saturday. Children 5 and younger will make bubbles using household materials. Call 330-744-5914 to register.

“Wonders of Water” will be held noon to 2 p.m. Saturday for all ages. Children will explore water with hands-on activities. Admission is free.

KAYAKING AT LAKE: Several water kayaking events will be offered this weekend at Mosquito Lake State Park. Youth kayaking will be held 5 to 6 p.m. Friday for ages 15 and younger. Those attending are asked to meet at the parking lot at the campground boat ramp. Parent must be present. Dress appropriately and proper footwear is a must. No open-toed shoes allowed. Limit of five per trip.

Introduction to kayaking will beheld 6 to 7 p.m. Friday for children and adults. Full Moon Paddle will be held 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday for adults only
