CHOIR FESTIVAL: The Office of Worship of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, in conjunction with the Music Committee of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission, will sponsor the annual 2018 Diocesan Youth Choir Festival 12:30 p.m. today at St. Columba Cathedral. The festival will culminate with the Youth Choir singing at the 4 p.m. Vigil Mass at Saint Columba Cathedral. A choral prelude will precede the Mass.

WOMEN’S MOVIE EVENT: Braceville Christian Church Women’s Movie event “Laughing in the Dark” is a docu-comedy featuring Emmy-nominated Christian comedian Chonda Pierce, who shares her struggles to give hope and healing to those who suffer from depression, anxiety, loss and grief. RE-CREATION RETURNS: Howland United Methodist Church, 730 Howland Wilson Road, will have a program by Re-Creation 7 p.m. April 28 and 10 a.m. April 29. The event is a song and dance variety show with praise and worship, children’s songs and classic hymns. Gabrielle Darrin, who is a member of the church, is part of Re-Creation. Rebecca Wise, a church member, is also planning to be part of the group.

REVIVAL SERIES: Revised Church of the Living God, 1520 Sixth St. SW, Warren, will hold a revival 6 p.m. today, Friday and April 28, and 11:30 a.m. Sunday and April 29. Guest speaker is revivalist Apostle Paul Kandel of Mobile, Ala. The theme is “Revive Me Lord.”

GLORY WAY QUARTET: Faith Evangelical Free Church, 10585 Windham-Parkman Road, Garrettsville, will host Glory Way Quartet at 11 a.m. Sunday.

MUSIC FESTIVAL: St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 E Market St., Warren, will hold ita 150th anniversary music festival 7 p.m. Sunday. The event will feature Madrigal singers from Warren G. Harding High School, men’s choir of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church and youth choir from New Bethel Baptist Church. Free admission.

MATTER OF BALANCE: Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., will offer a free program to the public, “A Matter of Balance,” Monday through May 2. The four-week program will be 1 to 2:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The program is open to both women and men. Call the church office at 330-637-2571 to sign up. Walk-ins also welcome.

WOMEN’S EVENT: First Baptist Church of Braceville Women of Wisdom Ministry will host its annual women’s luncheon 11 a.m. April 28 at the church, 1300 Cedar St. SW, Braceville. Keynote speaker is the Dr. Jacklyn Chisholm, CEO/President of CEOGC in Cleveland. The theme is “You are a Light to the World.” This year’s honorees are business owners Bobbi Smith and Cassandra Horne. The event is free, but requires a ticket. PRAYER GATHERING: Fowler /Vienna Prayer Gathering will be held 7 pm. Thursday at the Fowler Community Church, 4665 State Route 305 in Fowler.

RETREAT FOR WOMEN: The Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown is co-sponsoring a healing retreat for women with the Community of Jesus, the Living Mercy. The retreat is entitled “And I Will Heal Them” and will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 28 in the hall at Saint Joan of Arc Parish in Streetsboro. The event is designed for women who experience unresolved sorrows of the past and who face challenging seasons of grief, anxiety and painful relationships. GUEST SPEAKER: Alpha and Omega Ministries, 561 Washington St. NE, Warren, will have Elder Little of the Olive Grove Baptist Church speaking 7 p.m. Friday.

WATCHMEN AT WALL: Elim Christian Center, 3214 Ridge Road, Warren, will hold Watchmen on the Wall 10 a.m. April 28 with guest speaker, warden Charmaine Bracy of Trumbull Correctional Institute.

DAY OF PRAYER: The Trumbull County Prayer Movement will host the 67th annual National Day of Prayer event 7 a.m. May 3 at the National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. NW.

The local Trumbull County event will feature guest speaker President William McKinley portrayed by Mike Wilson.

Buffet breakfast will be at 7 a.m. followed by a program at 7:30 a.m. The doors will open at 6:45 am. The program also will include special music.

Individual tickets for the morning event are a donation of $12 per person. Churches, businesses or individuals can sponsor a table by purchasing tickets in groups of eight for $96 per table.

In addition to the morning event, there also WILL be an evening event 6 p.m. at the Packard Park Shelter House, 1703 Mahoning Ave. in Warren. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the program.

MOVIE NIGHT: Newton Falls First Christian Church, 17 N. Center St., will hold family movie night with the movie “Wonder” at 7:30 p.m. April 28.

MUSICAL EVENT: Temple El Emeth in Liberty will present “From Broadway to Logan Way” 2 p.m. April 29. The presentation is Stephen Sondheim’s Company. A bruncheon is set for 1 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person with deadline Wednesday.

BIBLE FELLOWSHIP: New Creation Bible Fellowship, 2955 Caleb Drive NW, Warren, will be celebrating its 18th anniversary 5 p.m. April 29 at the church. Guest speaker is from York Avenue Church of God.

NEXT STEP: A 12-step group to help people break the bonds of codependency begins meeting at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, Canfield, on April 30. The Next Step Group will follow the same format and philosophy of other 12-step groups. Meetings will be 7 p.m. Mondays starting April 30. There is no charge to join this group, which preserves anonymity, but a goodwill offering of $1 per meeting would be appreciated. Call Linda at 330-799-4941.

HONOR MARY: The annual Night to Honor the Blessed Virgin Mary will be 7 p.m. May 4 at St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown, and 7 p.m. May 11 at at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Canton. Bishop George V. Murry will preside at both of these devotional services. All are invited to the services that will include scripture readings, a homily, hymns and recitation of the rosary.

RETROUVAILLE OF YOUNGSTOWN: Spring is a time for renewal. Couples who think their marriage relationship has sprung a leak may consider joining the Retrouvaille program beginning May 25-27 at the Villa Maria Educational and Spirituality Center in Pulaski, Pa.

Retrouvaille is French word that means “rediscovery.” During the first weekend of the program, couples will learn a new communication technique.

The program continues on Sundays in June with follow up sessions at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Warren. In these sessions, couples will learn a conflict resolution technique while continuing to dialogue. LONG MARRIAGES: The Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will sponsor two wedding anniversary celebrations to honor couples who are observing their 25th, 40th, 50th or longer anniversaries in 2018.

The first celebration of the year will be 2 p.m. June 3 at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown. Couples planning to attend the June celebration should register at their parish by April 30. Registration is limited to the first 132 couples.

The second celebration will be 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Canton. Registrations will be accepted in September for this event.

Both celebrations will include Mass with Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., renewal of marriage vows, a personalized certificate for each couple, and a reception for the couples and their families.

WOMEN MINISTRY: Trinity Baptist Church, 235 Highland Ave., Warren, “Women’s Ministry’ is hosting an excursion to the Sight and Sound theatre in Lancaster, Pa., leaving the church on Oct. 12 and returning Oct. 13. The production is “Jesus.” Fees vary from $360 per person for single occupancy, $285.00 per person for double occupancy, $246 per person for a quad, $255 per person for triple. Payments can be made in installments but final payment is due Aug. 5. Call 330-399-6733.
