Preserving documents is topic of Tuesday talk

SPEAKER IS PAPER CONSERVATOR: Vienna Historical Society will have speaker Jamye Jamison, paper conservator of the Jamison Art Conservation, talk on “Protecting the Past” 7 p.m. Tuesday at Vienna Township hall, Route 193. Johnson has been a member of the American Institute for Conservation. The discussion will include the recent preservation effort to save one of Vienna’s oldest documents. The featured book was used to record the ear markings of livestock in the township in the 1800s.

AMERICA’S OTHER AUDUBON: The Audubon Society of the Mahoning Valley will hold “America’s Other Audubon” 7 p.m. today at the Canfield Library. Joy Kiser, a former librarian for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington D.C., will present a mini-documentary on Geneieve Estelle Jones who illustrated the nests and eggs of birds of Ohio.

DRUG AWARENESS: A drug awareness meeting will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kinsman United Methodist Church,8362 Main St. Officer Greg Leonard and Capt. Tony Villanueva from the Trumbull – Ashtabula Group task force, Lauren Thorp from Trumbull Mental Health Board and Dorraine Brainard will share information about recovery facilities, drug use prevention, recognizing signs of drug use and addiction.

FAMILY NIGHT: A Family Game Night will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home in Niles. Crystal Dragon Games and Hobbies will provide a variety of games for family members of all ages.

ENTERTAINMENT SHOW: The Trumbull Senior Production Company will present “Clap If You’re Happy” 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Champion High School. Guest entertainer for the show is drummer Joe Pushcar, who graduated from Brookfield High School and attended Penn State University majoring in physical therapy and is employed at Nova Care in Niles. Tickets are $12 and can be bought at the door.
