Howland teens show interests

STUDENT SHOWCASE: Howland High School students will be holding their inaugural “All One” student showcase 5 to 8 p.m. today at the school. The event will feature clubs in which the students participate, as well as the extracurricular activities the district offers. Students will be displaying their work and accomplishments. The jazz band and choir will be performing. The Howland Historical Society also will be on hand to detail its history of Howland Schools exhibit, which includes artifacts from as far back as the 1860s.

SCHOOL PRESENTS BEAUTY AND BEAST: Hubbard High School Drama Club will be performing “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the high school auditorium. Tickets are $8 adults and $5 students and seniors 65 and over. Children under 5 are free.

WHMHS HOSTS HISTORIAN: Local Slovak historian and author Loretta Ekoniak will present a program based on her book, “Slovaks of the Greater Mahoning Valley,” co-authored with Susan Summers, 10 a.m. Saturday at Kravitz’s Deli Meeting Room, 3135 Belmont Ave., Liberty, for the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society. The program is open to the public. Admission is $6 for non-members. Refreshments will be served and a 50-50 raffle will be held to benefit the society’s education mission. Music is by Dolores DePietro. Reservations are suggested. Walk-ins admitted, based upon seat availability. WHMHS will be selling copies of the recently released “McGuffey Wildlife Preserve.” To make reservations or for more information, contact Richard S. Scarsella, WHMHS chairman, at 330-726-8277.

OPEN HOUSE: Trumbull Mobile Meals, 323 E. Market St., Warren, will hold an open house 3 to 6 p.m. Friday.

EARTH DAY: Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste Management District will hold Earth Day events this weekend, including cleanups in Girard Stambaugh Park on Saturday, Warren Quinby Park on Saturday and Liberty Township communitywide Saturday and Sunday.

STEM SHOWCASE: Youngstown State University’s annual STEM Showcase will be 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Moser Hall. STEM students show their projects and research. Students also get to meet STEM faculty and staff and tour the facilities.

PARTY BREAKFAST: The Trumbull County Republican Party will hold its monthly breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Buckeye Club, 366 N. Park, Warren. There will be a full-course buffet breakfast. The cost is $12, which includes tax and tip. Guest speaker will be Ohio Auditor Dave Yost. Call Lori at 330-442-7468 for questions or information.
