Earth Day event planned at YSU

CELEBRATION IS WEDNESDAY: Youngstown State University will hold an Earth Day Celebration 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Andrews Recreation Center on the YSU campus, 101 Armed Forces Blvd.

BARN QUILTS: Johnston Senior Center, 922 Warren Road, Cortland, welcomes Harold and Betty Babb at 1 p.m. April 23 to talk about the history of barn quilts and ways to bring this tradition to Trumbull County. The program is free. Attendees who would like lunch at noon that day need to call the center at 330-924-0412 by Wednesday to reserve a meal.

VALLEY MAFIA HISTORY: Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St., will have author Allan May speak on his book “Crime Town USA: The History of the Mahoning Valley Mafia” at 6 p.m. April 26. For reservations, call 330-545-2508.

PRINCESS PALOOZA: The fifth annual Princess Palooza will be 11 a.m Saturday at the Liberty Library Branch. All princesses are invited to dress in their finest and enjoy a visit with a special royal guest. For children ages 4 to 8. Registration is required by calling 330-759-2589.

SPRING FLING CONCERT: Girard First Christian Church, 140 E. Broadway Ave., will have the Girard Community Swingtime Band present “A Spring Fling” concert 6 p.m. Sunday. There will be a basket raffle, 50-50 drawing and bake sale. The event is sponsored by the Girard Junior Women’s League.

SOCIETY TO MEET: The Mahoning County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet 7 p.m. today at St. Charles Church Ministry Building, 7325 Westview Drive, Boardman.
