Lead poisoning screenings set

LEAD PREVENTION SCREENINGS: The Warren Health District Nursing Division, 258 E Market St. Suite 327, Warren, will hold free lead poisoning and prevention screenings for Warren city children ages 1 to 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Monday. Children with elevations will also receive confirmation testing. The event is being held in collaboration with Mercy Health LEAD Prevention Program.

PETER PAN IN SIGN LANGUAGE: Hubbard High School students will perform the Walt Disney classic Peter Pan in American Sign Language 7 p.m. today and Saturday. Student actors will rely on American Sign Language to tell the story in an adaptation of Disney’s film. Tickets are $6 adults and $4 students.

ARTS EXTRAVAGANZA: Champion Central Elementary School, Mahoning Avenue, will hold arts extravaganza showcasing school artwork 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the school.

WILDLIFE PRESERVE: A DVD premiere, documenting the McGuffey Wildlife Preserve, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Kravitz’s Deli Meeting Room, 3135 Belmont Avenue, Liberty hosted by the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society. The DVD was produced by Armstrong Cable and the society. Veteran local television and radio broadcaster Tricia Perry will introduce the DVD, which she narrated. The program is open to the public. Admission for members is $5 and non-member admission is $6. Refreshments will be served. Entertainment is by Dolores DePietro. A 50/50 raffle will be held, to benefit the society’s education mission. PICTURES WITH BUNNY: Legacy Dog Rescue and F5RS – Frisky Ferrets, Fuzzies, and Feathered Friends are hosting a picture with a Rescue Bunny event noon to 4 p.m .Sunday at Family Video, 4385 Kirk Road, Austintown. Easter picture taken with a real therapy bunny or two and the photo will be printed onsite to take home. There will also be baked goods available for purchase to help continue the life saving efforts of both groups. No dogs are to be brought because of the bunnies.

BLACK BEAR PROGRAM: Amy Reeher, administrator of the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District, will present a free program 11 a.m. Monday on black bears in Ohio at the Johnston Senior Center, 5834 Warren Road. Cortland. There will be black bear pellets.

FRIENDS TO MEET: The Friends of the McKinley Memorial Library annual meeting will be 6 p.m. Monday at Perkins Restaurant, 1953 Niles Cortland Road NE, Warren. Those attending must RSVP to Kadie Bowen at 330-544-0199.
