Adopt a rabbit at PetSmart

NONPROFIT HOLDS PROGRAM: F5RS, a nonprofit rescue for rabbits in North Lima, is holding an “Adopt a Rescue Rabbit” program on Saturday and Sunday at Pet- Smart in Niles. All rescue rabbits are spayed or neutered and normally housetrained. No adoptions without an approved application, found at F5RS.org.

CUPCAKERY AT LIBRARY: Lordstown Library Branch, 1471 Salt Springs Road, will hold Cupcakery at 2:30 p.m. Friday. The free event is for children in grades fifth to 12th and allows participants to decorate cupcakes. Registration information is needed and available by calling 330-824-2094.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY OFFICERS: The Girard Historical Society has named officers for 2018, including Roberta Lawrentz, president; Colette Chuey, vice president; Patty Miller, treasurer; Maryann Creatore, secretary; and Joe Spano, new trustee. The Barnhisel House located on North State Street will be open 1 to 4 p.m. the second and fourth Sunday of month, May to December. The theme is “Back in Time.” For information, visit girardhistorical.org. Fundraisers planned for the year include trash and treasure sale, ladies afternoon tea and an annual dinner.

SWING INTO SPRING: The eighth annual Swing into Spring dinner theater and awards program for Champion seniors will be 5 to 6:30 pm. March 20 at Champion High School cafeteria. Reservations are required by calling 330-847-2338 by March 13. The event is planned in cooperation with Champion Schools Senior Citizens Advisory Council and Champion Board of Education.

Those attending the dinner can also help with the Champion Pride Council’s effort to get paper towels collected that can be brought to the dinner. The Champion High School Interact Club is collecting the items in conjunction with the Champion Rotary Club.
