Warren Rotary Club to celebrate 100 years

WARREN — The Rotary Club of Warren will celebrate its centennial anniversary with a black-tie centennial gala Jan. 27.

Rotary President Andy Bednar said club members will celebrate 100 years this month.

Bednar and a centennial committee developed a three-pronged approach to celebrating the milestone.

• The yearlong celebration includes such events as planting 100 trees in five of Warren’s public parks; taking an aerial photograph of many of the members in the shape of the Rotary Wheel; and most modifying Fellowship into “Fellowship 2.0,” which consists of 52 historical Warren Rotarians or people significant in the history of Warren, portrayed by members of the Fellowship committee.

• Programs and a series of proclamations, including one from the Ohio governor, will be highlighted this month. Each of the 79 members will choose a charity to receive $100 as part of Warren Rotary’s 100 Good Deeds Program.

• The Jan. 27 Centennial Gala with former Warren Rotarians will include a specially designed signature dessert that incorporates the Rotary Wheel.

Bednar said to commemorate 100 years, a centennial logo has been designed. He said embedded in the logo are eight images representing the city of Warren, former Warren Rotarians or their professions, and several of the club’s early accomplishments within an overall image of the Trumbull County Courthouse, an icon for the city of Warren.
