Winter festival in Quinby Park

SEEING EYE

SATURDAY EVENT: A Winter Festival will be 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Quinby Park, 525 Austin Ave. SW, Warren. There will be food, entertainment, Christmas caroling, sledding and trolley rides (weather permitting), holiday vendors and a toy giveaway. The festival is the vision of Elder Gerald Morgan, pastor of Hoyt Street Flourishing Ministries Church of God in Christ, and the other members of Sons of Thunder. Co-sponsoring the event are the Community Concerned Citizens, Warren Neighborhood Initiative and Sixth Ward Councilwoman Cheryl Saffold. All adults are encouraged to donate a toy, which can be dropped off in advance at Hoyt Street Flourishing Ministry’s administrative building, 763 Hoyt St. Sponsors are seeking entertainers; call 330-307-7683.

DONATIONS FOR VETERANS: McDonald High School is collecting donated goods to provide the homeless veterans of Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana and Portage counties with care packages to help them through this difficult time. Goods or monetary donations are being collected until Friday. The school is working with Robert Marcus of CHC-Homeless Outreach on care packages for the numerous homeless veterans in northeast Ohio.

OPEN HOUSE: The Leavittsburg Heritage Association will be hosting its Christmas open house 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Heritage Museum, 4901 W. Market St., Leavittsburg. There will be pictures and memorabilia of the Leavittsburg community. Christmas cookies and hot chocolate will be served.
