Tree lighting set in Lordstown

SEEING EYE

FRIDAY EVENT: Lordstown village will hold the annual tree lighting ceremony 6 p.m. Friday in the park by the one-room schoolhouse off Salt Springs Road. There will be caroling, a visit from Santa Claus and refreshments in the fire hall.

SOCIETY TO MEET: The Howland Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the township Administration Building to discuss the society museum and other items.

SILVER MONDAY: St. Joseph Warren Hospital Auxiliary’s Silver Bow Gift Shop, 667 Eastland Ave. SE, Warren, is hosting its annual Christmas open house, “Silver Monday,” Nov. 20. Refreshments and free gift wrapping included.

Proceeds benefit the St. Joseph Health Center Auxiliary, which assists various programs, patients and projects of Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

BOOK BUDDIES: Book Buddies will be held 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-Trumbull County Main Library. The program helps children to become better readers. Book Buddies provides after-school one-on-one reading practice and reading-related games. Children in grades one to four may sign up for a 30-minute session to practice their reading in a fun, stress-free environment with a trained volunteer. Registration is required each week. VOLLEY FOR A CURE: The Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities Wellness Committee will host its annual Volley for a Cure fundraiser at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Fairhaven School gymnasium, 420 Lincoln Way in Niles. All proceeds raised from the event will benefit The Hope Center for Cancer Care in Howland. Entrance to the event costs $1. Community members can participate in the event by signing up to play on an existing team or putting together their own team. TCBDD staff members and their families will also be playing in the event.
