Public welcome at Ridge’s Moss Ancestral Home

OPEN HOUSE: Moss Ancestral Home, 1499 Burnett St., Mineral Ridge, is holding an open house 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

HOWLAND HISTORY: The Howland Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the township administration building. Howland resident Warner Taiclet will speak on the Western Reserve and Howland. The free event will include refreshments.

COLLECTION OFFERED TO PUBLIC: A household hazardous waste collection will be 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Geauga County Engineer’s Office, 12665 Merritt Road, Chardon. Residential waste only. No trailer loads.

FAREWELL CEREMONY: A Farewell Ceremony Planning Committee has been formed and any interested resident is invited to attend the meeting 4:30 p.m. Monday at Champion Central Elementary School to share ideas for planning the school’s farewell ceremony sometime in October 2018. The building is closing and will be replaced by a new PK-8 school building.

CRIME BANDITS: True crime author Allan May will present a free lecture about notorious bandits who carried out their crimes in Ohio and the Mahoning Valley at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. The program is “Midwest Crime Wave Bandits in Ohio.”

LIBRARY PLANS SALE: The Friends of the Girard Free Library will hold a book sale Sept. 15, 16, 18 and 20 during regular library hours.
