Local book is garden-inspired

SEEING EYE

BOOKWORMS OF WARREN: Bookworms of Warren and Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership are releasing ”Bookworms of Warren: A Community Collection of Garden Inspired Literature and Art,” a book of community written literature and artwork inspired by gardening. The book features prose, poems and short stories all written by local community members and features artwork by local artists. This local book was inspired by “Seedfolks,” a book about community gardening in Cleveland, by Paul Fleishman.

Bookworms of Warren is also unveiling 10 “Little Free Libraries” the group has installed at community gardens and pocket parks throughout Warren. The official unveiling will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Laird Community Garden, corner of Laird and Grandview. BOYD’S HOME BENEFIT: A benefit for the Boyd’s Kinsman Home will be noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at EZ’s Orangeville Tavern, 7506 Orangeville Road, Orangeville. Featured will be a dinner, games, 50 / 50 raffle and Chinese auction, and entertainment provided by Moonshine Madness featuring “Big Chuck” from Discovery Channel’s “Moonshiners.” All proceeds will benefit the activity fund for residents of Boyd’s Home. FAIRHAVEN HOSTS GOLF CLASSIC: The 20th annual Fairhaven Golf Classic will be noon June 5 at Squaw Creek Country Club in Vienna. Registration is 10 a.m. All proceeds will benefit individuals and families supported by the Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Call John at 330-652-9800.

BLESSING OF FACILITY: Boy Scout Troop 101 of Warren will hold an official dedication ceremony and blessing noon to 2 p.m. Sunday for its new facility by Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren. Refreshments will be served.
