Egyptian fest to be this weekend

EGYPTIAN FESTIVAL: An Egyptian Festival will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at St. Mary and St. John the Beloved Convent, 8640 Squires Lane, Howland. The event will include displays and ethnic food. The public will be able to tour the convent and the bookstore.

YAPA SOIREE: The Youngstown Alumnae Panhellenic Association will host a Senior Soiree 7 p.m. Thursday at Selah Restaurant, 130 S. Bridge St., Struthers, for sorority alumnae who are interested in continuing their sisterhood. For information go to www.youngstownalumnaepanhellenic.weebly.com.

ALUMINUM CAN COLLECTION: The Hubbard High School Marching Band is holding an empty aluminum beverage can collection 10 am. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Save A Lot parking lot.

OPEN HOUSE: Brookfield Historical Society will host an open house 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the administration building. The new resource room will be open and there will be displays in the meeting room of various points of history of the township, including a timeline. Other displays include a wheel from the Arthurholt grist mill, Native American, coal mine and Valley View store history. Refreshments will be served.

BENEFIT TO HELP CHILD: A fundraiser to help Miranda Drake, 2, who is battling Koolen-de Vries syndrome will be 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday at the AMVETS of Newton Falls. Proceeds will help Miranda and her family.

SHREDDING SERVICE: Howland Township will offer shredding for local residents 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the parking lot near the gazebo off East Market Street.

SWAP MEET: The Trumbull County Rod and Gun Club will hold a Mosquito Lake Trader’s Day swap meet 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 6565 Phillips Rice Road, Mecca. The event will include various raffles. For information call Jason at 330-898-0542.

DRIBBLING FUNDRAISER: A ”Dribbling for a Cure” fundraiser to help Kayla Irene Daniels will be 4 to 9 p.m. today at Bristol High School gymnasium. The event will include a 50-50 raffle, basket raffle, food and three-point, half court and free throw contests. There will be cash prizes for those who dribble the longest.
